Preface
My name is Takashi Watari, and I am a Japanese physical therapist. In this book, I introduce several physical self-care methods.
What is good movement? I have been working on this question for many years. In the process of this effort, I have reached the viewpoint that it is “smoothness” and “energy efficiency”. These viewpoints are the basis for the self-care methods introduced in this book. Chapter 1 explains these viewpoints.
We each have only one body. Therefore, it is very important to reduce the risk of physical injury, which can be achieved by making good use of forces acting from outside the body, called external forces. In Chapter 2, I provide tips for implementing postures and movements that make good use of external forces.
Although there are individual differences, our bodies move very smoothly when we are born. However, under the influence of various factors, our body motions are gradually limited over time. If there are motion limitations in the body, a variety of problems can occur. Chapter 3 introduces specific methods for removing motion limitations that are hidden in the body.
This book aims to reduce the risk of physical injury and remove motion limitations that are hidden in your body. I think that I have written about the most essential points of physical self-care in this book. I believe that this book will contribute to improving your life.
